Hi crafters! With the holidays coming up, I've been thinking a lot about family traditions and the little things that make them special. I have my grandma's old recipe box. ❤️ And you know what my favorite thing about it is? It's not really the recipes. It's the traditions. All those family meals, holidays, and special occasions tucked away on little recipe cards. Dishes that were made year after year, passed around the table, and shared with the people we love. Some bring back wonderful memories. And some... well, let's just say Grandma collected some interesting recipes. But I know she was laughing when she tucked them in there. 😂 That's part of what makes this little box so special! And it makes me think about how wonderful it would be to pass those family traditions along to the next generation. Imagine putting together a little recipe box for someone you love. What's the first family recipe you'd put in it? Maybe it's a favorite family dinner, Grandma's famous cookies, or that special holiday dish everyone looks forward to. You could fill the rest with treasured family favorites, recipes passed down through generations, and maybe a few that haven't made an appearance at the dinner table in decades. You could even decorate the cards with pretty papers, embellishments, handwritten notes, or family memories. What a sweet, personal gift that would make! ❤️ And it wouldn't take much to put together. Just a little recipe box, some pretty cards, and a few dividers to keep everything organized. So I put together two new DIY Recipe Card & Divider Sets that would be perfect for a project like this. Both sets include printable recipe cards and matching divider templates in 3" x 5" and 4" x 6" sizes, with 4-tab and 5-tab divider options. And you can choose your favorite style! The Simple Set has classic black-and-white recipe cards and blank dividers you can decorate and personalize. The Vintage-Inspired Set has pretty, old-fashioned recipe cards with coordinating cream-colored dividers. Whether you're organizing your own favorite recipes or making a special gift, you'll find both sets in my shop! ❤️ [SEE THE DIY RECIPE CARD SETS →] And here's a little idea... If you have a son, daughter, grandchild, even a niece (like I do!) who's recently moved into their own place, why not make them a box of family recipes? That way, wherever life takes them, they can carry a little piece of home along with them — and share those traditions around their own table. Oh, and don't forget the WEIRD recipes! 😂 Seriously. Include a few of those strange old family dishes nobody's made since 1979. Who knows? One might become a new family favorite! Or at least give everyone something to laugh about at the next holiday dinner. ❤️ Happy crafting! P.S. And to my Mom, because I KNOW you're on my list and probably reading this... ❤️ I've already started putting a recipe box together for Melanie! Could you write down a few of your favorite family recipes on cards to add to her box? And don't forget some of the weird ones! 😂 |
